Custom Carpentry & Built-Ins in Jacksonville, FL

Off-the-shelf furniture doesn’t fit every space — and it never fills floor to ceiling the way a built-in does. Rent-A Fella designs and builds custom carpentry for Jacksonville and NE Florida homeowners: built-in shelving, mudroom lockers, entertainment centers, pantry systems, window seats, and more.

Every project starts with a measurement and design conversation. We figure out exactly what you need, sketch it out, quote it, and then build it — from raw plywood and lumber to a finished, painted piece that looks like it came with the house.

Our built-ins have shown up in homes across Nocatee, Ponte Vedra Beach, and St. Johns — neighborhoods where custom storage has serious resale value. A well-built built-in pays for itself when it’s time to sell.

Carpentry FAQ

What kinds of built-ins can you build?

Floor-to-ceiling shelving, floating shelves, mudroom locker systems with benches and cubbies, entertainment center built-ins, window seat storage, closet organizers, pantry shelving, and garage wall storage systems. If you have a photo of what you’re envisioning, bring it — we can usually build it.

Do you do design consultations?

Yes — we’ll measure your space, discuss what you want to achieve, and sketch out a plan before quoting. No charge for the consultation.

What materials do you use?

Typically 3/4” birch plywood for the carcasses and solid wood (poplar or oak) for face frames and trim — the same materials used by built-in cabinet shops, at a fraction of the cost. We also work with MDF for painted pieces where a smooth finish is the priority.

How long does a built-in project take?

A single run of floor-to-ceiling shelving (8’ wide) typically takes a weekend. A mudroom locker system or entertainment center built-in runs 2–3 weekends. We discuss timeline during the quote.
